Laughs...

A few things heard recently...

Josh: Are we almost home?
Mom: Yes, just one more turn. Which way should I go, right or left?
Josh: I choose left.
Math: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Mom: Math, what is wrong? We need to go left.
Math: No mom, we ALWAYS choose the right!

Mom: I love you.
Seth: No.
Mom: Yes!
Seth: No (laughs) I maniac!

Snow

A few more pictures of us playing in the snow...so much fun!

Patti Greenwood

There are so many wonderful things to say about Patti but I think the phrase that describes her best is "practically perfect in everyway." Patti is every nice and kind word you can think of! She is very talented and kind and generous. When I first had Joshua, she and Anne were the experience that I didn't have. They gave me tips and advice that I didn't get anywhere else. It was so helpful! Patti is always understanding and an excellent listener. Besides just being perfect, she is also quite humble in perfection...thus making her perfect ;)

New Balance is so stylish it spans the generations...

What is the difference between being 60 and 6? As we can see from Grandpa Snow and Hyrum's shoes it is just dirt (and size)...

Janine (and Brian) Price

I often think we should change our name to Price since that is what most people call us. That and Michelle instead of Melissa...anyway, then maybe people would think we were related to the Prices. Also, once they got to know us they would also think we are related to the Prices! I actually went to high school with Janine but we didn't really know each other. However, I changed my memory of high school to include Janine and it makes me think much more fondly of those somewhat terrible years. Janine is generous to a fault! She and Brian have done more for others than anyone else I know. Also, they are some of the funniest people I know including all of my Snow cousins who are very funny. Janine is one of the best people to talk to and ever thing she says always makes sense. I will just list a few highlights of our friendship...games, desserts, dinners, the boys wrestling Brian, chocolate, Mexican chocolate, mint truffles, desserts again, games again, discussions, Triscuits, political discussions, cactus, desserts and games again again ;) John and I have never beat Janine or Brian (legitimately) in a game and yet we kept playing with them all the time which is proof of how much we love them. All I have left to say is..."Do you really want to hurt me?"

Marci Riding

That's right Marci...you are next. Marci is the most perfect non-perfect (cause no one is perfect) person! Marci is frustrated at the right times, funny at the right times, stressed at the right times, witty at the right times and generous all the time! She is very talented. An excellent cook and very creative. I think her girls are probably some of the luckiest in the world. Marci has an amazing ability to find humor in everything and then share it with all of us. She quietly offers up service and is a great person to talk to. No one could ask for a better friend!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Here are some pictures from this morning and it is still snowing!! I wonder how much we will get? It has to be close to 5-6 inches right now. Absolutely ENCHANTING!! There is nothing as peaceful as watching snow fall.

Corrine Simonsen

Corrine Simonsen is today. Unlike me, Corrine is a excellent blogger. She also has so many other talents like sewing, cooking and decorating. Corrine is always doing some kind of project and it was often for someone else. One of my favorite things about her was that she could motivate you to do anything and then she would help you with it. She got me to paint my rooms, make curtains and helped me set up my piano! Also, she was always up for doing something whether it was going to Walmart or out to dinner. Corrine made friends so easily and could talk to anyone. She always threw parties and had the best food and Eric was equally as fun!! We lived in the same neighborhood and I miss the carpools, school activities, playgroups, swimming pool and after school fun and just having someone to talk to if you needed it!!

Tonia Davis

I have been trying to get Christmas cards done (it is going slow). This has reminded me of all the wonderful people we have known throughout the years so I thought I would do "grateful" post of them to motivate me to blog. Since almost everyone who reads this blog knows each other you can have fun remembering all the wonderful things about them too! I am just going to go in order (backwards) of the most recent comments on the blog so I don't have to worry about picking or organizing!
Tonia Davis is the first. Tonia is amazing! She does amazing things like home schools her kids and she goes days without TV and she has natural child births but instead of realizing how great she is, she thinks everyone else is wonderful. She is such a marvelous mom, fabulous friend and has excellent taste in literature. Tonia and I are kindred spirits and we think we should have been roommates! She has 4 girls basically the same ages as our 4 boys so we are planning on meeting up during Armageddon. Also, Tonia comes with Ben, who John really liked and was (this is a secret) always disappointed when he wasn't at ward or YM's activities. I only wish we had more time together ;) Everyone loved Tonia!

Elder Wirthlin

Just last week John and I were talking about how wonderful Elder Wirthlin's talks had been the last few conferences. He visited my mission and I even had to sing for him (the first and only time I have sung in public). He had a kind and calm presence about him. He will be missed...

Ode to Brian and Janine...

Well, today I had a lot of opportunities to remember our friends Brian and Janine including how to squeeze all the juice out using a fork and a very tasty dessert ;) But the main reason is our Christmas tree. Our apartment is so small that I seriously considered not putting up the Christmas tree because there was so place for it to go or we thought about getting a tiny table tree. Our Christmas tree is not big. It was the cheapest Walmart tree a few years ago and it is shorter than me. Still there was no space for it but then I remembered Brian and Janine. They had a gigantic tree so they could only put up half of it in student house. Well, we only got to put up about 1/3 of our tree because it had to go into a corner next to the bookcase. If I had a camera that worked I would put up a picture, next week maybe.

All in a day's work...

It has been a crazy day. It's "Boys gone wild" at our house. John didn't want to do the dishes so I told John that I would do the dishes if he would do the boys tonight. This meant that I would get to sit in the quiet kitchen doing dishes while John helped Hyrum finish his homework and put Math and Seth to bed. John's exact words were "DEAL!!!" So as I started, John went upstairs to handle the boys. I hear John tell Seth and Math to ask me for help so they are downstairs now wanting snacks. Then John sends down Hyrum to get help with his homework. Now I am helping Hyrum do his homework and getting Math and Seth ready for bed. What is John doing you ask? Well he is upstairs building lego guys for Hyrum...that was his version of "helping with boys" because apparently Hyrum needed "help" with legos. No wonder he said DEAL. After a few minutes I go to the stairs and tell John that he is doing dishes tonight...

DISCLAIMER: In general John is helpful when asked!!

What would we do without Onion News?

Seth likes to wash dishes...

This is true. Seth does like to "try" and wash dishes. One day he INSISTED on washing dishes so I put him up on the sink and let him try it all by himself.

Halloween and Football Madness...

It was a fun weekend. It started with Halloween on Friday. After a Halloween party in the afternoon, Grandpa Snow arrived and we had pizza for dinner. Then we went on a very fast trick-or-treating trip because we already had plenty of candy and weren't really interested in getting more.

Then we were off to Fort Collins for the BYU vs. CSU game. It was really fun and the weather was amazing. Everyone slept on the way there so it was peaceful. We got there and the boys were pretty amazed. The first half went really well. They really liked the band too. In the second half, Seth got pretty jumpy so John and him walked around while we watched most of the third quarter. We had to leave a little early so we didn't get stuck in traffic. We stopped at Sonic! We haven't eaten at Sonic since we left Texas.
We listened to the game on the radio and were very happy BYU was able to win because it didn't look good while we were at the game. However, it was so sad to watch Texas lose...

Halloween Fun...

Here are a few pictures from our pre-Halloween fun. Our Church trunk-o-treat and a night of dry ice courtesy of John's lab. We were getting dizzy from all the carbon dioxide so we opened the doors ;) It also took a little while to convince Seth not to drink the dry ice.

Pumpking Patching across the universe...

Well, maybe I have been listening to Star Trekkin too much. Here are some pictures from our fun time at the pumpkin patch. They had two different mazes and tons of pumpkins. We got some and had dinner in a pumpkin for Seth's birthday. Seth really loved the animals, especially the cows and the sheep.

Our sweet Seth is two today, although according to him he is "sick" (six). It has been delightful to watch him grow up!.

Edward Cullen vs. John Prince

*This is a warning...only read this post if you are really bored

I was talking with a friend about Twilight and she was saying that she doesn't like it because she is so sick of everyone gushing over how romantic and wonderful Edward Cullen is and their husbands are not. I can see how this would get old after awhile and really bother me too. I, on the other hand, always thought John was a lot like Edward and gave her a fun list of the ways they are the same. We had a really fun discussion about how are husbands are like Edward so I thought I would inspire you to think of all the fun ways your husbands are like Edward so we don't have to turn innocent people against Twilight (not that I am a big fan but still...). I should turn this into some kind of tag but I won't...

HOW JOHN IS LIKE EDWARD
-He takes really good care of me
-He is very smart and well educated (it seems like he's been in school as long as Edward)
-John has very Roman Godlike features
-John also has rippling muscles like Edward (on many of these answers I am bias but this is just an objective fact...I can give multiple stories to verify this fact if needed)
-John is very fast and strong (for a human)
-John can climb trees really well too

WAYS EDWARD IS BETTER THAN JOHN
-It would be a lot cheaper if John could just run everywhere really fast and not have to drive like Edward (although Edward likes to drive).
-It would be a lot cheaper if John would just eat wild animals for free...I mean really, John can out eat almost anyone!!
-It would be a lot better if John didn't have to sleep. His education probably wouldn't have taken as long and I have a feeling the house would be a little cleaner.
-It would be better if John couldn't get injured because he is much more like Bella in this area meaning he gets injured all the time!
-John does not have a very good sense of smell.

WAYS JOHN IS BETTER THAN EDWARD
-He is real!!!
-He is nice and warm to sleep by. A few months ago this would have gone in the above category but now that I am finally somewhere cold I enjoy having John next to me.
-John was smart enough to pick someone less annoying (me) instead of someone super annoying like Bella
-John doesn't drive too fast
-John can produce almost normal children rather than not even close to normal children ;)

I can't think of anymore right now but I'll add some if I can. Just think of poor John when/if he reads this ;)

I KNOW THAT THERE IS PAIN BUT YOU HOLD ON FOR ONE MORE DAY AND YOU BREAK FREE FROM THE CHAINS....

It was terrible...just don't ask...carnage!! TCU took BYU down. I'm going to hold on till Sat but if Texas loses to Missouri I won't be able to hold on anymore....

PS - You should never let your happiness depend on college football!!

FHE is lost on us...

So you may think that Family Home Evening seems pointless in our house because the boys are so irreverent. You may think it is meaningless because the boys just like to run around and not listen. They also just wander off and start something else. These things are true but don't happen has frequently as you might think. Our real problem is that their personalities are just too crazy for the lesson to apply as last night really showed us. We were learning about the Atonement and our object lesson was about "drinking the bitter cup." John filled two bowls, one with propel and one with vinegar. After reading the scriptures about the Atonement we asked the boys to try the different "cups" to try and understand what the scriptures meant. This is where it started to deteriorate. The boys liked the vinegar! They wanted to keep tasting it. We had just been giving them little sips off a spoon but then Seth grab the whole thing and started drinking the vinegar. Eventually he started choking on it but then the other boys got mad because Seth took all the vinegar and they wanted more. Hmmmm...so they drank up the vinegar and needless to say the bitter cup wasn't so bitter after all. I guess we should have seen this coming based on the fact that straight mustard and lemon juice are two of their favorite things to get out of the fridge and "drink."

HOOK 'EM HORNS BABY!!

After a day like today there is going to be a big shake up in the rankings!! See ya OU, LSU, and MIZZ...here comes the Longhorns (and Cougars!!)

Monday, October 6, 2008

We have been enjoying/downloading some of my favorites from back in the good old days when I used to stay up late and listen to the Dr. Demento show with Tyson. Our favorites are Yoda (of course) and Star Trekkin. I still can't located a copy of "Eat too much" by Guns N' Moses. Here is our favorite YouTube version (careful it is really loud)...I am sure it doesn't take a great imagination to see why the boys are in love with this video.

Fabulous Fall...

There were so many fun pictures it was hard to pick a few but I didn't want drive my loving readers crazy with too many!!

Check out the squirrel behind Hyrum...

An ode to John...

And to finish off, this is a nice little series of typical Hyrum :) Pretty funny...
