Halloween Fun...

Here are a few pictures from our pre-Halloween fun. Our Church trunk-o-treat and a night of dry ice courtesy of John's lab. We were getting dizzy from all the carbon dioxide so we opened the doors ;) It also took a little while to convince Seth not to drink the dry ice.

Pumpking Patching across the universe...

Well, maybe I have been listening to Star Trekkin too much. Here are some pictures from our fun time at the pumpkin patch. They had two different mazes and tons of pumpkins. We got some and had dinner in a pumpkin for Seth's birthday. Seth really loved the animals, especially the cows and the sheep.

Seth is two...

Our sweet Seth is two today, although according to him he is "sick" (six). It has been delightful to watch him grow up!.

Edward Cullen vs. John Prince

*This is a warning...only read this post if you are really bored

I was talking with a friend about Twilight and she was saying that she doesn't like it because she is so sick of everyone gushing over how romantic and wonderful Edward Cullen is and their husbands are not. I can see how this would get old after awhile and really bother me too. I, on the other hand, always thought John was a lot like Edward and gave her a fun list of the ways they are the same. We had a really fun discussion about how are husbands are like Edward so I thought I would inspire you to think of all the fun ways your husbands are like Edward so we don't have to turn innocent people against Twilight (not that I am a big fan but still...). I should turn this into some kind of tag but I won't...

-He takes really good care of me
-He is very smart and well educated (it seems like he's been in school as long as Edward)
-John has very Roman Godlike features
-John also has rippling muscles like Edward (on many of these answers I am bias but this is just an objective fact...I can give multiple stories to verify this fact if needed)
-John is very fast and strong (for a human)
-John can climb trees really well too

-It would be a lot cheaper if John could just run everywhere really fast and not have to drive like Edward (although Edward likes to drive).
-It would be a lot cheaper if John would just eat wild animals for free...I mean really, John can out eat almost anyone!!
-It would be a lot better if John didn't have to sleep. His education probably wouldn't have taken as long and I have a feeling the house would be a little cleaner.
-It would be better if John couldn't get injured because he is much more like Bella in this area meaning he gets injured all the time!
-John does not have a very good sense of smell.

-He is real!!!
-He is nice and warm to sleep by. A few months ago this would have gone in the above category but now that I am finally somewhere cold I enjoy having John next to me.
-John was smart enough to pick someone less annoying (me) instead of someone super annoying like Bella
-John doesn't drive too fast
-John can produce almost normal children rather than not even close to normal children ;)

I can't think of anymore right now but I'll add some if I can. Just think of poor John when/if he reads this ;)

FHE is lost on us...

So you may think that Family Home Evening seems pointless in our house because the boys are so irreverent. You may think it is meaningless because the boys just like to run around and not listen. They also just wander off and start something else. These things are true but don't happen has frequently as you might think. Our real problem is that their personalities are just too crazy for the lesson to apply as last night really showed us. We were learning about the Atonement and our object lesson was about "drinking the bitter cup." John filled two bowls, one with propel and one with vinegar. After reading the scriptures about the Atonement we asked the boys to try the different "cups" to try and understand what the scriptures meant. This is where it started to deteriorate. The boys liked the vinegar! They wanted to keep tasting it. We had just been giving them little sips off a spoon but then Seth grab the whole thing and started drinking the vinegar. Eventually he started choking on it but then the other boys got mad because Seth took all the vinegar and they wanted more. they drank up the vinegar and needless to say the bitter cup wasn't so bitter after all. I guess we should have seen this coming based on the fact that straight mustard and lemon juice are two of their favorite things to get out of the fridge and "drink."

We have been enjoying/downloading some of my favorites from back in the good old days when I used to stay up late and listen to the Dr. Demento show with Tyson. Our favorites are Yoda (of course) and Star Trekkin. I still can't located a copy of "Eat too much" by Guns N' Moses. Here is our favorite YouTube version (careful it is really loud)...I am sure it doesn't take a great imagination to see why the boys are in love with this video.

Why Undefeated is special no matter who you are...

I think Tyson or Blake should write an article (a real article) on why being able to go undefeated in a season should earn you a trip to the championship no matter who you are or what you are ranked (unless there are 3 or more undefeated teams, then the top two should go). USC is a perfect example this year. USC is a great team, an amazing team and they probably deserved their number 1 ranking. They destroyed Ohio (another great team) and it looked like calm waters all the way to the championship....but they didn't make it. Even USC can't go undefeated and this should be a great argument for teams not in BCS conferences. Going undefeated no matter who you play is still an amazing feat. It may be that you don't play many ranked teams but as we saw last week obviously being ranked or not ranked doesn't mean that much when the game gets going. "Undefeated" is still elusive enough whether you are #1 or number #35.

PS - I am going to try and not make a blog of just Harry Potter, The Office and BYU Football but it seems that those things keep creeping in ;) It's that or pictures of the kiddos because I ain't doing anything else that interesting.

We have been waiting for this...the leaves, weather around 70 degrees. Today was perfect! It was just under 70 this afternoon. I did the pictures large so you can appreciate the leaves! Beautiful...
