We've had a big week. Sam's first tooth broke through and Sam has started clapping. Math is about to lose his first tooth!

I think I am big...
Everyone was enjoying dessert and then came for their obligatory mouthful of whipped cream. Sam just sat there with his mouth open looking at me and making sounds....so I gave him a squirt. Good thing I had the camera right next to me because he was really happy :)

The game...
Well, the game was sad but the view, the company and the seats were excellent...
We took all the boys and we all survived :)

We were really close to the field, only 8 rows up. That is Blake's (my cousin) head on the right...

Possibly the most spectacular stadium views!!

Devin K, Isaiah H, Hy, Dallan and Math, my aunt Christine and cousin Zach...

Playing...Math got to meet Cosmo also...

Sam survived with a nap during the 3rd quarter...

Are you ready for some football...
So I think tomorrow we are going to be brave and take the whole family to the game.
On a side note, Seth has been just so funny today. A few gems...
Seth - Mom, you are like a chef. You can make everything and it is yummy.
Me - Thanks. Here's your lunch.
Seth - When you are like a chef then when someone asks you for something you say "You got it!" and then give them what they want. I want cottage cheese.
Me - (smile) You got it!!
Sam was being a little fussy while I was finishing dinner this morning...
Seth - When Daddy is at work I am like the daddy because I am at home. I can help Sam because I am a daddy. I know just how to do it!
Me - Thank you Seth. I'll try and hurry.
Seth walks over to Sam, picks up Sam and then carries him over to me and says "Here you go Melissa..."
I wonder where he learned that ;)

Nerd vs. Dork continued...
So there has been a small debate previous...I am not trying to say that John deserves the nerdy award especially considering that as I am typing this Joe is on his *ham* radio trying to see if someone on top of Mt. Nebo can broadcast and reach him. He learned about this from his *ham* radio community in which Joe is considered a General :)
Alas, John is not immune.
Story 1 - Our garage code needed to be reset. John's suggestions...(I will not say the real one because publishing your garage code is never wise) but they were along the line of "Let's do the inverse of pi!" "Why don't we just do pi?" "We can't do pi, that is too obvious and everyone knows it and would guess it."
Story 2 - John is on the Chemistry dept's ultimate Frisbee team. If you don't shave then you can't play, BYU honor code applies! This morning I said he was looking pretty scruffy. He had shaved yesterday morning. He went to the game "unshaven." When he got there they stopped the undergrad in front of him and asked him how long it had been since he shaved last. He said he had shaved the morning before. They sent this undergrad home to shave before the game because he was too scruffy. John was next....they waved him through without a second look :)
Story 3 - His ultimate team has a team shirt. Don't look at the picture until you read the story!! This is how John tried to explain this shirt to me. "It is such a funny shirt. We are the deprotonators. So the shirt is a "deprotonator." (Me...ummm, okay....) No, it is really funny. So the shirt has this little guy and he has protons and then in the next view it is showing the protons coming out and then the little guy dead. Then the shirt says "The deprotonators...we'll kick the proton out of you." Me - we'll kick the proton out of you? That is is what it says? We'll kick the proton out of you? I am not sure that is funny...even to a chemist??? John - it is funny, trust me! John's description was accurate but what he failed to mention was that they weren't using the word "proton" they were using the symbol H+ for a proton. When I finally saw the shirt I realized it was funny and I asked John why he didn't just explain it saying it was a hydrogen ion instead of a proton? John - Because they are the same thing. Me - I know they are the same thing but don't you understand how it changes the humor of the shirt when you explain it without that detail of it being the symbol not the word. John - I guess...but is it really more funny knowing it is an H instead of the word proton? Me - You mean is it is more funny to say "We'll kick the H out of you. vs We'll kick the proton out of you?" John - oh, I guess that is more funny...

My Fall Collection
My fall collection...that is what John is calling it. He likes to do things like that when I pretend I can take pictures. Obviously I can't but everything is so beautiful and amazing I feel compelled to try. Don't worry, my pride and my love for my family and friends keeps me from posting my incompetence. I save those post for somewhere else and just for myself :)
So, this collection is for those of you who have to miss autumn. Every picture is from my neighborhood loop. These are the first hints of how spectacular it will be...
You can click on the slideshow to make it bigger...I added some of the names of plants...

Jupiter
It is unfortunate that I have no idea how to capture planets, night scenes or stars and I probably don't have a camera that could do it anyway...but Jupiter is spectacular right now rising over our little mountain. Can you see it? It is the bright dot up on the right hand side above the garage wall. It is a shame the picture doesn't even come close to doing it justice. Even at night you can still see the mountain with Jupiter and it is amazing!
missed jupiter...

Hy's Baptism
We had a wonderful baptism. We were blessed to have so much family and friends there! Josh and my dad talked, Paula and Dallan provided the music (Hyrum picked the songs). Joe and Tyson were the witnesses and Gma and I gave the prayers.
Afterward we had a super yummy brunch at the house and it was fun to spend time together.

Sept 8 - a new view
This morning when the S's and I were out we were looking at the mountains and I felt a little bad because every other mountain is completely covered in trees and turning so this view is still from my house but it is to the right instead of straight out the window. It is easier to see the color if you click on the picture and see it larger. You can see how much more covered the other mountain is (ours is still the one in the front). The high today will be around 83 degrees but wait till you see the high tomorrow...we'll be having soup :)

Labor Day...
A labor day view from our front yard...high today, only 73 degrees!!

We've had a big weekend. First the BYU game and then we had Isaiah Haywood over for dinner since he is at UVU. It is hard to believe he is so old.
We spend labor day up the canyon with hot dogs and s'mores....

There were football games to be played...

A close up...can you see the red/yellow?
Each day brings a little more color. It is unfortunate because our mountain was burned in a fire about 2 years ago, maybe 3?? Anyway, most of the trees are gone so we won't get the same kind of change you see a few hundred feet over on the next mountain but it is still an amazing view.
The high today is only suppose to be around 85...
How do you know you have awesome seats...
You know because we almost got hit with the football on an incomplete pass. We were on row 7. Josh, Josh's friend, Math, Paula, Dallan and I got to go to the game!! WOW...what a great game! As I sat in the stadium this evening watching the game (it was AWESOME) I enjoyed the amazing view from the stadium. I really think it is one of the most beautiful stadiums. No wonder it made it on the list of must see stadiums. All over the mountains you can see hints of autumn.
The high today was just over 90 degrees. The game was pretty toasty until the sun went down.
